Not Knowing

The last year and a half, I've plunged into several things where I'm a bit lost, if not entirely.
  1. Business
  2. Painting
  3. Woodworking
  4. 3D Graphics
  5. Different ways to develop software
Business has been the most haphazard. Along the way, I've pretty much had to learn by trial and error. I try to make errors that have fairly small repercussions. I haven't found the balance between a doe-eyed idealism and Scrooge. I also haven't found anybody that can give advice on anything other than percentages. But overall, I really like it. I've learned a lot, and have a respect for what a company offers its employees, the risk it takes, the responsibility it manages and the hard work that goes on behind the scenes keeping existing work and reaching out for new possibilities. I may change my mind, but I think aloof shareholders are a horrible detriment to a company. By aloof, I mean only concerned about a growth percentage. The shareholders become this one voice demanding one thing, "More."

I started this post with the intent of saying how awkward it feels to press into new areas with mostly looks from the sidelines. Painting (like surfing) is solo in nature, and maybe that is what best suits me.
