Here you see me struggling for an idea... or something.
You may recall a while back something similar.
Man. Today, I read something in the autobiography of that philosopher. The author said that an individual really can't tackle the field (or maybe make any contribution) without colleagues and teachers.
I've read it numerous times about art too. More than likely it is true.
But I don't feel like I'm wasting my time. And to be honest, I'm not just doing a hobby. I'm trying real hard. I wish I had a teacher... but I can't afford it.
If I could pick a teacher today, I think it'd be nice to learn from an art historian who knew the different techniques... knew the stories... influences... social backdrops... etc... Somebody fresh and enthusiastic. Somebody who might like to see an authentic recreation of something nobody else gives a flip about and be able to work through the process... and find me diligent for grunging for pigments... But it'd have to be some teacher who's respect was for something larger and grander... just curious... and willing to try stuff... and willing to let things go if necessary... I dunno.
