Energy?

I was hoping I'd wake up antsy to go to Quintana to paint those boats. The weather is nice.

My kicker doesn't seem to want to start.

I obeyed "rule #1". Also cleaned up the backyard some. Watered the gardens.

Went to Starbucks.

Still. I feel lazy.

(later)

I don't think that is it. I think I want to make sure I've got something worthwhile before manically trying to make it work down there.

Thank you for watering the gardens! :-)

Are you going to surf tomorrow? Is the forecast still good for surfing?

Do you mean manically try to make a painting work? Sometimes your best paintings just happen! But they are a lot of work and maybe you just need to relax.

Surf is blown today.

I don't think my feverishly done paintings work.

I spent a couple hours yesterday sketching and tossing.

Now that I have a basic idea, I'm at home with more sketches than yesterday.

I'm not getting frustrated. I'm searching for the right one, so when I go all the way there and do the painting, I should be confident going in that the composition will hold.

I really want something to last.

I've sketched:
- One boat
- Two boats
- A boat and a pelican
- Close-up of part of a boat
- Various dock positions
- Various tonal compositions

I've got to think about time of day etc.

The hardest part for me is composition. And I'm afraid that is the most crucial and probably the most innate.

Oh well. I'll keep trying.

Please do. You seem to me to have a huge amount of innate talent and I know everything you are missing will come with time.

Kim, I think I need to come up to Austin. I go crazy, almost literally, without you guys.
