Will post more about this later, hopefully.
Kaley and I went to Amsterdam together yesterday. Played cards on the train. Went to the Rijkemuseum. Rembrandt. The Milk Maid. I got goose bumps when I saw the Milk Maid. From there went to the Anne Frank museum. The museum is the house she was in during the Nazi occupation. We got to go behind the bookcase. Connected to that is a little room sponsored by `free2choose´. They put up different issues and little boxes are placed where you vote, then they tallied and you got to see what other visitors and all visitors voted. I think Frankie would have found that most interesting.
Last night I drew at `De Bakkerij´, my substitute for Starbucks. I drew the girl with a pearl earring. I didn´t use a grid, I told myself, `Use the force´. A guy really wanted to buy it. An artist sat down and talked to me for quite a while. He was a trip, white hair, goatee, braids...
To sum up this year (fiscal) has been much about seeking out a pearl... and the girl with a pearl earring has been intertwined with that... somehow Vermeer got involved... going to the Netherlands... and to finish out the stay here I think I´m going to The Hague to see the painting. End of the firework show. I realize that I didn´t want to do that mid-trip... I like to build up...
Looking forward to working with Mark when I get home :)
