I had to trade $1.52 for one Euro. They don't cut you a deal since you traded $1.52 for one Euro. Things keep costing the same amount of Euros. I think some recipients have an inner smile too.
A reasonable price for a beer is 2.50E. That turns into $3.80. It's not just beer. It's everything like milk, bread, train rides... diapers... museums...
I'm probably spending the same I would anyway. Perhaps I'm doing less. I'd be happy with cheese and bread... but that ain't gonna happen... well unless we really run out of money and credit... or I start screaming.
We skipped the Rikjsmuseum... like Rubens, Rembrandt etc. I skipped the modern art museum. We've only taken one train trip. Amsterdam is fun, but a sinkhole for dollars.
Can't imagine if we didn't have a home to stay in. This would be insanely expensive.
