CMMI Training - Day Two

Today was info overload. Eddie said this would happen, but it would all gel in the end. That is hard to believe at this point. I am not even sure I know what a "project" is anymore --- or did I ever???

CMMI has 22 process areas with different maturity levels for each process. There are groupings, connections between process types, dependencies, definitions etc. Definitions seem to be recursive or self-referential. There's a lot of chicken-and-egg with things like a plan needing a plan. Sometimes processes seem like structures and sometimes they seem like sequential thingies.

Is a "design" an architecture? Why not just validate? Why verify? Who, what, where, how.... WHY?

And by and large I'm told that I'm doing all this stuff anyways. I was so confused that at one point I asked how I fit into the picture. There was an echo of voices that said I was a "resource". I am not sure exactly what that means. It sounds like something that is mined out of the side of a hill.

Well, I better quit typing. May post again later.
