Ribbons And Gibbons

NASA's IBEX (Interstellar Boundary Explorer) spacecraft has made the first all-sky maps of the heliosphere and the results have taken researchers by surprise. The maps are bisected by a bright, winding ribbon of unknown origin.

Can't we cut that program too??? Where's the return??? They could be making this stuff up just to sound Trekky. Fuzzy math. Who would know the difference? Let's get back to fire, meat and clubs. At least *then* you know where everybody stands. Honesty. Pull yourself up by the bootstrings.

What does that mean? Is the ribbon a different temperature? Chemical?
