George:
I think it was N.C. Wyeth that said painting is like giving birth, there is a lot of fear, anxiety and pain in the process before elation. I have shared this with you before, but Sargent told his student that you have to be willing to draw your subject 200 times if needed to get it right. I am glad you were able to see the problem. Take care, George
Me:
I really need to draw more. I consider myself a pretty patient person but when it comes to painting, I think it's the place where I want to "let it flow"... unfortunately, it just doesn't work like that I suppose unless there's been proper study - now I just thought, not just of "drawing" in general but of the subject matter at hand.
You know I bet I'm not that patient at all... more like I can work on something for hours on end if I see any tangible sign of improvement. That's more of an addiction than it is patience - maybe.
I had that aha moment when I started basically drawing on the canvas... some committed simple lines.
