I thought the "whooping cough" was some past thing like "the mumps". Not so. It is alive and well. It's also very contagious and misdiagnosed. You might want to get immunized.
First hand, helplessly watching, Kaley coughs violently until she struggles to breath. At that point, you hear the "whoop" - the breathing hard "through a coffee straw" to get a breath of air. It's horrible. I can't imagine if she was a baby.
Thankfully, it comes in fits and the fits are pretty far between - say every couple hours sometimes. I just hope it goes away :(
It's really bad bad bad. You don't want this.
PS: I did find out that Kovi most likely had it but was immunized not too long ago. The "immunization" wears out... so teens are susceptible... maybe more so than adults somehow because we are actually semi-naturally immune to it... Also, some have a more violent reaction to the infection.
I just mean... immunization is probably not MANDATORY... but it might be a smart thing to do at least for kids on more of a regular basis or something.
I dunno. I just don't like "the whooping cough"!!!
PPS: Also, there is a test for this, so we should know soon whether it really is the whooping cough.
PPPS: I know when Kaley is sick that she is *sick*. It's happened twice now where we have had to go back and back and back saying basically, "something is wrong. this is not normal, Norman"
P4S: She will be okay... just have to let it run its course :(
