Science Project And Willie Nelson

I went into what Kim said was "such a dad" rant last night.  It's over the science fair project.  The couple ideas that I think would matter, such as seeing if Mrs. Tracy's hippie lice treatment instead of our malathion would work, would be hard to fit into the science fair.  The creek running over with algae didn't fit either.  What they want is canned but not too canned.  Last night I saw Kaley's future in education like the pigs in the attached video.

So I began to think of a new science fair project --- an anti science fair project, a science fair project to show how the current science fair projects are set up cannot work --- to show there is a limiting process when you bound to the particular structure that they have.  And by "not work", I mean there's a lot of duplication, overworked teachers, bubble headed students restricted to keeping it simple and by having to keep it clean and bounded... which makes it so you can't solve or explore a real problem... because real problems probably aren't going to fit into a mold (no pun intended on Jonas Salk)

What I've fallen back on is this - Kaley is learning the Scientific Method.

More than likely I just don't like that I'm going to do something sorta canned, even though it was our idea.  Or maybe I've got the dad jitters that I won't make my daughter good enough.
