I'm sorry to hear about Karlton's passing. Karlton and I were friends from elementary school and on through college. We studied and dormed together in Russia on an exchange program. We made several trips to the Texas coast on Spring Breaks. One year, we went solo. We partied together, lots of late nights in Austin. We camped together in Big Bend and New Mexico. We ate together. All the while, what we mostly did was enjoy each other's company making each other laugh - as well as discuss life, the absurdities, the interesting things that Karlton picked up on. Karlton had an offbeat wonderful zany sense of humor that was smart, witty, edgy and off the wall. He was deep and questioned everything. He was always late, always scrambling to get stuff together to get to wherever we were going - and it was always necessary to have Karlton there to add humor and fun to the mix. He was off on the side, in the middle, out there - breaking ice with others and glueing people together. He was wonderfully independent minded - and such a fun great friend to grow up with. I haven't kept up with social media - but via social media, my wife has given me messages from Karlton, "I love you guys". Much of who Karlton was is part of who I am - and happy for the time we had together.
