Sat down. A regular asked me to paint him a conquistador. He asked again. He showed me the medalion on his necklace. It is a real Spanish coin found off the coast of Florida. Excited to show me more, he asked me to wait while he went home to get some things. He brought back a tiny model of a conquistador... a ship in glass... and a Christmas ornament with a ship inside... and some magazines.
He went into a passionate description of how brave these men were traveling into the unknown... fearless... astronauts of old. He brushed his goatee and said the conquistador should have a goatee like his but more scraggly... but not too thick...
I just can't help thinking that these guys were more tired and seasick than anything.
While I'm not into conquistadors, or Columbus Day for that matter, I'd just like to make a painting for this guy and maybe put on canvas what is in his imagination.
Met another guy that does art on the side. I ended up going home to retrieve some paintings to show him. He showed me some pictures of lilies which he is going to make into a four panels. It is for his mom for Christmas. He was young and kinda hip. I felt like some guy stuck in the 90's... but I like the early 90's... and feel comfortable there...
It is weird: Hot Chocolate, Nirvana, Conquistadors, Lilies, Simulation, Pennsylvania and Abraham Lincoln.

And it just keeps going like that... complete sense in the midst of nonsense.
Our dog is the only solid state thing in our universe: food and stink.
Is this postmodernism?
The conquistador looks like a ghost...
His neck is missing on the horizon.
He is the fearless headless headed conquistador.
I honestly don't know what postmodernism is... but if I did... I probably wouldn't know... I think I got that much out of it.
Embrace the Conquistador!
he looks like the ghost in Hamlet but you are obviously having fun so keep doing it (having fun I mean!).
Like the acorns!
lol... Columbus day...
