It's Great To Find

The best things are right there
Sunshine
You're happy, even under the smokescreens of stress
Not many pay attention, but a couple do
The end of youth, you find your own blossoming
You know you wouldn't go back

Pulling over off the highway
To grab a farm grown watermelon
And an eight pound bag of ice
Not so much in love with watermelon,
but something nostalgic, but not simply so, good too
Yes

Too seedy?
Nope
Never know how to slice it.
Uncles pretend they do
Moms know they do, but don't
Nobody knows, this I'm convinced

Summer kids dripping sticky watermelon
It's a royal mess
Completely not worth it
Leftover rinds
Which horses might eat
Had they the chance

Covered in dirt
Gritty ends of sour fleshy shell

Ants get lost on these mouth-shaped
Tooth-etched, sand-covered wastes
Preferring crackers, more dry
Easier to crunch into crumbs
Much better

Fall's first day
The last day of summer
Wondering if it's really over
Hoping it is

School's in session
Lingering watermelon
A tummy ache
No salt, well just to remind

Put the five in the cigar box
Hope for lemonade
Banana leaves
Good night

Keith,
You are unbelievably talented! I enjoy your blogs so much! And I think it's worth it for you to spend money on art supplies, because you have extra time there to draw (I'm assuming), and a set of different subjects than here. You go, guy! Keep the words flowing, as well, okay?
Love you,
Lynn Mom

Thanks. I'm Jonesing for color. The two photos I posted today show that.

I went to the art store without money and itemized the cost of paints and supplies.

Oh man.
