This is hearsay. I need to look this up, but just wanted to throw it out.
A guy told me yesterday that the bailout is going to overseas banks. He said that for instance Japan can't get over 2% for their loans, so they buy ours. They buy the loans in a huge package. Since loans are going to pass from hand to hand, solvency isn't as much of an issue, so people are given loans pretty freely. No credit, no problem! Somewhere, somehow the buck has to stop. That kinda machine has to have a limited lifespan.
So why is it there at all? It works for some. Some have "golden parachutes".
Who loses? It doesn't really work for anybody. I think everybody loses. It's hollow. It's artificial. It's dead ended. It's greedy. It's ugly. It stirs up animosity. It's unappreciative. It's predatory.
We've bought into the myth that enough stuff will cure ourselves.
Since it's Sunday I'll end this post with a scripture (hacked up), "What does it profit a man if he owns the whole world but forfeits his soul?" What if you gain it all, but what you've gained will not grow to the next generation, if it is hollow and bursts, if it causes enmity between neighbors and family, if it is blind, if it is unappreciative for the possessions we have, if what you have was purchased off the backs of the poor? There is no soul in gain like that. There is no life in it. There's no beauty in it. It is dead. It will rot. When it does rot, people will take joy in the decay. Why live like that?
I think I have an answer for, "Why live like that?" It's short sighted. It's self centered. It's ignorant and there's no hope in it.
How does that answer "Why?" We prefer instant gratification. We prefer filling our bellies. We choose ignorance and put hope in superstition.
PS: Maintaining is no good either.
PPS: To sum up I'll just say I think much of the problem is not an energy problem, a tactical one... but really a moral one. I don't mean so much moral as in "he's good, that's bad"... more of a civic responsibility and care for one another. Well... 'nuff preaching... I don't do that often... take it with a grain of salt.
