OpenGL State Machine

This is a small portion of a larger diagram that gives a high-level view of the opengl graphics language's state machine.

When one little switch is not set the way it needs to be --- you might be staring in darkness.

Worse, if a series of switches aren't set in the correct order --- you might be staring in the darkness.

Making darkness turn to light isn't an incremental process. Like pushing on a wall for hours with no give whatsoever, suddenly, perhaps accidentally, the wall falls.
