Safe At Home

Mark The Sleeper Polansky is back from orbit, he wrote:

Good morning from Houston. Was great to sleep in my own bed. Feel great! Just a little soreness in calf muscles & feel a little "heavy".

I want to meet Mark. I'm guessing he is real rested and very alert.

Mark Polansky actually flew in space with a teddy bear. He didn't take it to sleep with, although I'm guessing he did. To raise awareness of the genocide in Darfur, Sudan, the astronaut asked the United States Holocaust Memorial Museum if he could take one of its artifacts on the Discovery mission in December. The museum gave Polansky, whose father's family emigrated from Russia in the early 1900s, a photo of a Darfurian child refugee. It also made him a replica of Refugee, the tiny teddy bear that a Holocaust survivor, Sophie Turner-Zaretsky of New York, was given by her mother in Poland after the war.

BTW, the medicine I'm taking hasn't really helped my arms too much, but I'm sleeping well. Good side effect!

I wish the NASA space program could live up to this country's call of inspiration. How about hitting golf balls on the moon! Sock it to me! That's what I'm talking about!
