Email from my mom: We had such a great time that I want to tell you a little about the highlights. Those two kids are just the best ever! We started out with Kovi saying something like, “I just love the way MeMaw and Paw smell. Memaw and Paw smell better than the best candle!” All those years of wearing my special perfume and Daddy’s cologne paid off in that moment! Daddy later said that he hopes Kovi always remembers that about us. While we were driving there, I told Kovi that he would have the opportunity to ride a horse, and that it would be very safe, because they go in a circle and they can’t run off. Daddy remembered that Keith had done that and we told him that his Daddy had done that at about his age. Of course, he immediately said that he didn’t think he would do that. He said he would be too scared. I told him that we wouldn’t force him, but to wait and see what he thought when he saw the small friendly little horses. When we got to the horses, he took one look and said he wanted to ride. It was all his idea and initiative. Sissy went with him to walk beside him, and that was her idea. Well, Kovi didn’t just ride. He was a natural, moved with the rhythm of the horse, and began to raise one arm in the air like he was a cowboy on a buckin’ broncho. As a matter-of-fact, he became so animated that the horse manager made him calm down. When we arrived and parked, it was a l-o-n-g walk, up on a hill, with a frigid wind blowing in our faces. Kaley immediately turned into a mommy. She took her scarf off and wrapped Kovi, picked him up and carried him much of the way. Throughout the night, she watched his every move and made sure he was taken care of. Kim, it really was like you were there with Kovi. Isn’t that the role of Christians on this earth? Jesus’ Spirit working through us to represent Him and take care of those we come in contact with. When we were walking into the rodeo arena, Kaley said, “I am so excited. I’ve never been to a rodeo!” I loved watching her watch the rodeo. She wasn’t like some bored little spoiled brat, but rather a young girl who actually “got it.” She thought the cowboys were amazing. There were times she would hide her face on my shoulder. All Kovi wanted to see were the “buckin bronchos.” When we were leaving, he said, “I think I want to be a cowboy when I grow up.” Kaley said, “No! Don’t even think about that!” Kovi then said, “No, I know what I want to be when I grow up… I want to be Paw! He is always so happy. Yes, I’m going to be Paw, when I grow up!” Nothing more to say…WOW! Love, MeMaw
