Spoonbill And Coyote

Showed up in class today and my teacher had a painting he did last week.  There was a big pink Spoonbill in the foreground and a coyote on the bank.

I said, "Spoonbill!"  That turned into a long discussion about Spoonbills.

The thing is, the coyote wasn't going to get to the Spoonbill because the Spoonbill was in "the marsh".

The teacher didn't know I have a company called "Spoonbill"!

I'd show a picture of the progress on my painting, but I don't have the memory card for the camera back.  It's coming along well.  Now I understand how the more classic painting have the warmer darks.  It's really something.

I also had a "moment" today when I was handling the brush and it felt different... I was more sculpting and moving the pigment with the hairs of the brush... in a scratchy sort of way... hard to explain...

Also got to talk to George over lunch about different artists, color use, technique etc.

I really like another classmate's painting.  It's a painting of an older man getting a haircut from his daughter.  It's awesome.

At the end of the session, I looked at the painting and said, "I think I'm going to be able to paint something that will touch somebody."

I went home, hopeful, excited inside, thinking, "The coyote can't get me."
