Bass, Crappie And Redfish

You know when you're real excited and nobody can understand because they aren't you... and you can't expect anybody to understand... but you really wish somebody could... and you get all feverish trying to tell a story and you can see people backing up in terror because you are trying to get them to understand and they can't which makes you more feverish...and you start talking faster and faster and your words start getting all mixed up!  And you start screaming --- I mean it was like splish and splash!  And it was here and I was there!  And then it dove!  Then I let it go!  Then I retrievedled and it felleuded up!  LOL!

That's the kind of story I had today...  I caught a 14-16" bass on my #3 rod on that tiny fly (the pic makes it look big but that's a tiny fly)  The fly was tiny.  I wasn't aiming for a big fish I purposefully used thin thin line and a tiny fly...  I was able to keep'm on the line... okay... I'll shut up.

I heard voices on the trail and I went running with this creature in my hands to show somebody... but then I thought --- I GOTTA GIT IT BACK IN THE WATER!  I didn't have my camera!!!

Went home and got my camera... and *******almost******** landed another but didn't... It hit my sunfish fly!

So all I have to show is the crappie!  BUT!  It was my first crappie ever!

Then I was heading up the way and this kid, about 18, comes up to me and asks if I fly fish... Turns out he just got back from South Padre and caught a 20" redfish... *tailing*... he showed me how he dropped the fly in front of the tailing redfish... and he said, "Bam!"... I said, "That's my dream!  You just did my dream!  I mean that's my dream!  How did he fight!?"  The kid said, "Pound per pound, redfish are the hardest fighting fish there is.  On the fly rod, my number five, it was awesome.  And he was a keeper."  The kid's name was Michael.

We shook hands and parted.  About thirty feet apart I said, "I mean that's my dream!  Redfish tailing!  Dropping the fly right there... and BAM!"

PS: for my record, I think he said Laguna Madre... and some river...

PPS: South Padre is the place for Texas Surf... and sounds like the fishin' is good too.

That crappie was like a tail with a fish stuck on the front.
