The Redbud meeting began at 6:05pm. There was a recess and a follow-up meeting late that night. A strange blue glow came from Larry's garage. It was off the gas pump that Larry got from his grandpa. When Larry asked for the pump, grandpa barked, "But it don't work!"
After settling into the conversation between Myles and Larry, I caught the news that Larry's grandpa had passed away that morning. Beside the blue glow off the pump, tequila was poured and we cheered, "to grandpa". The conversation went into duck dives, slides, hills, fields, work, rocking chairs, telephone road, brothers, suits, TV boxes, wood floors, trucks, respect, the Dutch, decisions, deals, Pensacola, preservation, plaid, black and white, footsteps, Vietnam, back track, tack, tact, turns, ties, towns, banks, jukes and jibes.
