the face looks great. we all have things we dont like or feel we cant do anything about. The few of us who can find an outlet, such as sketching and painting, should be happy within ourselves and not always looking for comment. although that is nice to have. sometimes what we draw or paint are very personal. Hell this is getting too airy fairy, do what you like to do and enjoy it and those around you. I love the strong colour in this painting.
When I first started, I couldn't understand how what I was doing didn't transfer to another person. I couldn't help but take it personally.
Now, I have been able to look back on those first things I did (and have hid in the attic!) more objectively.
I am dependent on the reactions and opinions of others. I think it is a healthy dependency, because this is the way I have found I can share with people.
But I agree, I don't want to be at the mercy of other people's opinions. One thing this art thing has taught me is that people have wildly different tastes... and aren't going to necessarily get the amount of yourself you put into it... and sometimes the simplest things are the hardest... and are easily passed by... especially in a culture inundated with a bazillion images a day...
