Surf & Shrimp

Got to Surfside. The bridge to the island was held up with cars. Turned around. Went to Quintana. Was the only surfer out. Me and the cormorants. Caught a couple fun waves.

Went from there to a shrimp boat dock. Started sketching. Made eight or so sketches. The main boat I was working on was "Miss Jordi". At one point a BIG truck pulled up. A lady got out. She wanted to see my drawings. I said they were sketches and she got all excited and shook my hand. She said her name was "Dallas". She really liked my charcoal, mentioned painting her something for her nautical theme.

She went back to the truck and hollored, "Want an ice cold beer?" This is where I said in my head, "Son!"

"Well, I guess so." She said, "Budweiser or Corona". Then I thought, "Of course Corona, but will I be sucking out the most expensive beer? And will Bubba in the truck be mad I'm taking his primo selection?"

"I'll take a Corona."

She had me come over, Then she dug in the iced ice chest. She pulled out a sparkling clear bottle of Corona. Bubba, I can't remember his name, but it was something like Buster. He said, "Name's Buster." He gave me a bottle opener and tossed down one of those lime/salt packs.

So I continued sketching... and a guy from the boat behind "Miss Jordi", that was "Miss Kenzie" grunted, "Which one ya drawin'?" I said, "Both." He grunted again.

The sun set. A good day. Never got out the paints. I want to get it right.

Typed too much. Signing off.
