Pain Measurement

I think it is interesting how different tackling blood pressure and pain are.

I told the doctor that since blood pressure is easy to measure, we are able to deal with it in a much more  straightforward manner.  I told him that I wish we had a similar device for measuring arm pain.

I would love to hear, "Dude, you're pain level is off the charts!  We gotta fix this!  Do you know that pain can cause depression!  It leads to drinking!  Pain can cause you to compensate in different ways which throws your body off balance and can seriously mess your wellbeing.  We have GOT to fix this pain level.  Your pain is running 300/200 you poor soul!  I've got to get you to a pain specialist NOW."

But since there is no real way to explain it, you give in to x-rays, checking blood pressure and all that more manageable stuff.

The doctor had me do all these muscle movements and said, "Does that hurt?  Does this hurt?  How about this?"  I was like, "Dude, this is what I do to feel good.  I work!  Fish!  It's more the fine motor skills that hurt.  If you asked me to hold my arms out and wiggle my fingers I'd be radiating pain underneath."

It's actually very manageable now with Dragon Naturally Speaking and the ergonomic setup.
